You Know It As... That movie where bodyguard Denzel Washington goes on an insane revenge quest after Dakota Fanning gets abducted in Mexico. Among fans, this is considered to be one Tony Scott's best-loved movies, though I could personally never get past all those intolerably-edited scenes that render the movie mostly incomprehensible in its second half. Safe to say, though, that Washington puts in a fine performance, and there are some satisfying moments of action and violence scattered throughout. It's A Remake Of...Man On Fire (1987), which in itself was an adaptation of the book by British author A.J. Quinnell. So I'm cheating here slightly, since Scott's movie is a second adaptation of a novel, but Tony Scott's Man On Fire didn't exactly make itself known as either an adaptation of a book or a remake, so here it is on this list. The original French-Italian movie (don't fret: English dialogue) was directed by ‰lie Chouraqui, and it's probably about as a good as the Scott version, in the sense that they're both not particularly great. Scott Glenn and Joe Pesci star.
