10 Famous People You May Have Forgotten Were Oscar Winners

9. Eminem

Eminem has never been one who cared much for awards or awards shows. "You think I give a damn about a Grammy?" he sneered in his hit song "The Real Slim Shady" back in 2000. Well, he didn't appear to give a damn about the Oscars either when he won Best Original Song at the 2003 ceremony. Eminem was a no-show at the awards and, apparently, he was asleep when his name was announced. He has never made much of a big deal about his Oscar win, which is why it's easy to forget that he won in the first place. "Lose Yourself" was a huge hit back in 2002 and, nowadays, it's probably the most memorable aspect of Eminem's movie 8 Mile. Eminem has since gone on to record four more albums and is still enjoying a highly successful career. His win for "Lose Yourself" was a big deal as no rap song had ever won an Academy Award before. Three years later, the rap group Three 6 Mafia would win Best Original Song for "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp." We remember Three 6 Mafia winning because it's the most famous thing about them. Eminem, on the other hand, has had so much mainstream success before and after "Lose Yourself." His Oscar win almost feels like a footnote, not one of the biggest highlights of his career.
