10 Famous People You Forgot Were In Jean-Claude Van Damme Movies
5. Micheal Rooker - Replicant (2001)
Rooker came to many people's attention with his brilliant turn as a murderer in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986). In Replicant (2001) he plays a retiring cop babysitting the genetic clone of a serial killer so it's kinda... similar?
Riley (Rooker) has spent years chasing killer Edward Garrotte (JCVD). Riley later learns that a secret government agency have cloned Garrotte using crime scene DNA. The logic here is, a genetic clone may be able to help catch the real Garrotte using memories stored in DNA (or telepathy or… something). Riley is to aid the replicant, who has the mind of a child but the body of a man, in tracking down the real killer.
Replicant is fun, and certainly made better by the future Merle Dixon. When talking about Rooker’s career, it is unlikely Replicant will get a mention, when put next to his roles in Henry, The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Dark Half. Surely it will be mentioned long before The Marine 2, however.
Van Damme playing dual characters (again), one being a villain which became rare after his first few roles.
