10 Fan-Favourite Deleted Scenes (That Are Secretly Terrible)

6. Burke Cocooned In The Alien Nest - Aliens

Burke€™s death in the final version of Aliens is satisfying but underwhelming at the same time. The man was a slimy weasel whose actions got hundreds of people killed, so it was nice to see him get his comeuppance; it€™s too bad it happens off-screen. That wasn€™t the original intent though - James Cameron filmed a scene where Ripley finds Burke cocooned in the alien nest. He begs for help so she passes him a grenade so he finish himself off. The scene fell into fan lore over the years thanks to a single still image and while it sounds like a deserving fate for the character, Cameron removed it as the timeline didn€™t work; there was no way the aliens got him back, cocooned and impregnated in less than an hour. He also thought the scene was terrible so he refused to let it be seen for nearly thirty years. When it finally debuted on Blu-ray people got his point; the scene is dramatically flat as well as slowing down the pace..

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
