10 Fan-Favourite Deleted Scenes (That Are Secretly Terrible)

7. Harrison Ford As Elliot's School Principal - E.T.

Harrison Ford was married to the screenwriter of E.T. at the time it was being shot, so he was roped into a quick cameo by her and Spielberg. He plays Elliot€™s principal who speaks with him after the frog incident where Ford €“ whose face is never shown on camera €“ lectures him about his behaviour and how it might impact his future. Nobody remembers this scene as it was cut for being really pointless. Spielberg removed it as it slowed down the story in addition to Ford€™s appearance being a little distracting. Fans clamoured to see the scene out of sheer curiosity and were hopeful it might show up in the remastered edition (aka the infamous walkie talkie version). Spielberg still felt it was redundant but it was released on a special edition copy, so fans could find out for themselves just how useless the scene really was. The answer: really useless.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
