10 Fan Theories For Upcoming Movies (That We Hope Are True)

2. Steve Trevor Is A Green Lantern In Wonder Woman 1984

Well before he was officially cast as Steve Trevor in 2017's Wonder Woman, there were rumours circulating that Chris Pine was set to join the DC universe as the new incarnation of Green Lantern.

Even after his role as Steve Trevor was confirmed, these rumours persisted, with the theory being that Steve would eventually become Green Lantern, with Warner Bros moving away from the group of characters who traditionally hold that mantle, like Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner. And while that theory didn't play out in the first Wonder Woman film, what if it's still going to happen... but in the sequel?

Wonder Woman 1984 comes out next year, and in it, Steve is inexplicably alive, despite being blown up at the end of the previous movie. What if the Green Lantern ring somehow found him right before that explosion and whisked him to safety? What if Steve has just been attending to Green Lantern business since his "death" in World War I, and isn't able to return to Diana until 1984?

This could also be a way to explain why Steve hasn't aged in over 50 years: immortality and eternal youth could simply be waved away as being parts of his Green Lantern utility belt. You don't get an actor as popular as Chris Pine to return for a sequel if the part consists of intermittent flashbacks and dream sequences, so his role in 1984 must be juicy, and him being a Green Lantern would certainly fit that bill.
