5. The "Beautiful Dream" Is New Nightmare - A Nightmare On Elm Street 3
In A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Kristen is able to bring others into her dreams, although the extent of her powers is never quite clear. At the end of the movie, Nancy is killed by Freddy Krueger, and while Kristen is cradling her in her arms, she promises Nancy that she'll be put into a "beautiful dream."
Most just interpret this scene as comforting words to say to a person before they die, but a crazy fan theory explained by Leon Thomas of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses claims that the beautiful dream is actually what we see in New Nightmare. In that film, Nancy is actress Heather Langenkamp, living carefree as a rich celebrity in a world where Freddy is just a fictional character. That's a much better life, isn't it? It's almost beautiful? The idea is that Kristen has the power to send someone into a dream before they die, and that's what we're seeing in New Nightmare: it's the beautiful dream Kristen sent Nancy into.
Freddy is eventually able to break his way into that dream to start terrorising Nancy again, but she's ultimately able to defeat him. That's a lot better of an ending for the character than Freddy just murdering her in Dream Warriors.
