10 Fan Theories That Actually Improve Classic Horror Films
2. Roman Was Involved In The Original Murders - Scream/Scream 3
A lot of viewers thought the revelation of Roman being the killer in Scream 3 was kind of lame, but one theory makes it a lot cooler by suggesting he was involved right from the first movie.
There are a few inconsistencies in the original Scream that point to a potential third killer. In the opening of the movie, Casey locks all the doors, but when her parents come home, they push the door open. There must have been a second person there to unlock it, but it couldn't have been Stu, as it's later revealed he was with Casey that night. There are all sorts of moments like these, such as another scene when Sidney sees Ghostface stalking her outside, but moments later, Billy and Stu are both at the video store.
We know Roman was living in Woodsboro before the events of the first movie, and in fact he showed Billy footage of his father having an affair with Maureen Prescott. That's what kicked off Billy and Stu's murder spree, so there's already precedent for Roman being involved in the original killings. Fans speculate that he didn't just piss off Billy and then leave town. He actually helped out Billy and Stu directly as a third killer, and up until Scream 3, he got away scott free.
