Despite the overwhelming success of the Superhero film these days there are still some real stinkers in the midst of the genre, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix is such low-hanging fruit in regards to this sub-set it almost feels wrong to pick on it.

The film is such a flaming hot mess that its almost impossible to find any kind of positive throughout its painfully long run time, but if there is one it's the return of Evan Peters as Quicksilver.

In truth Peters has long been stealing scenes throughout the rebooted X-Men franchise, his charismatic Peter Maximoff has had fleeting but deeply memorable cameos in all the previous entries. However these often featured in better films, Dark Phoenix is a monumental waste of both the character and actor.

Aside from Quicksilver often featuring as the best part of the superior entries, Peters himself has proven to be an immensely talented actor over the years deserving of more attention. His turn as Warren in the underrated American Animals in particular showcases his incredible ability and serves to highlight the true waste of talent on display in his mercifully brief screen-time in the truly terrible X-Men: Dark Phoenix
