10 Fantasy Movie Announcements That Would Break The Internet

1. Harry Potter To Be Remade As BBC/HBO Series, Starting In 2022

harry potter coversAnnouncement: "To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, it was announced that The BBC and HBO would co-produce the Harry Potter series as a handful of Miniseries events, starting in 2022 with The Philosopher's Stone. Rowling said that, 'While the films are near and dear to my heart, I think it's time to unveil a new vision that's more in-line with the text of the books.' No word yet on any casting for the new project, but talent scouts are already on the hunt for their new players." Why It Would Break The Internet: This is the one that people seem to have accepted as most likely to happen. It's been joked about, mentioned, and put down many times over the course of the feature film series, but for it to become a reality would both vindicate and terrify the fan base. On one hand, it would be an interesting idea that could yield another really good version of excellent source material. On the other hand, it could open the door to a remake cycle akin to the rest of English literature, which would result in multiple versions over the next couple of decades that'd dillute the original. Sample Comment of Snark: "Does this mean we're going to see Daniel Radcliffe guest starring as James Potter? No matter what you guys do, Snape kills Dumbledore. End of story." What say you, What Culture Republic? What next big announcement do YOU think will bust the Internet? Are there any particular suggestions above that strike you as a good/bad idea?
