10 Fantasy Movie Face-Offs That Need To Happen Now

5. Maximus vs. William Wallace

maximus-decimus-meridius-gladiator A general whose life has been ruined by the oppressive Roman regime, or a Scottish warrior whose life as been ruined by the oppressive English regime. Decisions, decisions. Well, let's start by looking at the facts. The jerkface Romans killed Maximus's wife and son, and made him fight as a gladiator. The English invaded Wallace's land, killing his father, brother, and wife. So we're more or less square there. Let's see how each character fairs in their fight for justice. Maximus ends up getting the chance to kill his oppressor and free his fellow gladiators, which is a big point in his favor, even though he ends up dying too. Wallace, on the other hand, does serve as an inspiration for his people to keep fighting, but unfortunately ends up hanged, drawn, and quartered. It's just as unpleasant as it sounds. Who Would Win: Individually, I would have to go with Maximus. I think Wallace may have been a better leader, but at the end of the day, Maximus was the one who got the job done.
