1. It Was One Of Adolf Hitler's Favourite Films
Yep. That Adolf Hitler. Who exterminated a whole race in his country, murdered millions of innocent people and brainwashed an entire nation to fight to the death for him in his 6-year battle for world conquest. His favourite film was an American animated children’s film.
To be fair though, he apparently had a lot of films that he called his favourite. Names that do come up are King Kong, quite a few Mickey Mouse shorts, and perhaps most shocking of all, The Great Dictator starring Charlie Chaplin.
Hitler apparently had a varied taste in the films he watched and considered himself a bit of a movie buff, so really it should be no surprise that to him, Snow White was seen on the same level as The Eternal Jew. His dictatorship even had its own animated feature and that came out before this film by about 3 weeks: a Brothers Grimm fairy-tale called The Seven Ravens.
He also watched Tarzan. His apparent reaction? “Schlecht” (that’s “bad” in German).
