10 Female-Led Superhero Movies We Want To See
4. Mystique
There has been casual talk of a Mystique solo movie in recent years, because with Jennifer Lawrence currently playing the character, there's no way it wouldn't be at least moderately successful at the box office.
Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg have both expressed interest in the idea, though with Lawrence's thinly-veiled disinterest in the part, it'd honestly be much more interesting to see a solo movie defer back to the original actress, Rebecca Romijn.
For one, Romijn is still in fantastic shape and wouldn't look out of place as Mystique, and she brought a quality to the character that was both sexy and alien, whereas Lawrence's Mystique never really graduates from just looking like Jennifer Lawrence in blue makeup.
With the mutant's penchant for impersonation, a spy thriller starring Mystique could be ludicrously entertaining, and with the rather "generous" continuity of the X-Men franchise, there's a lot of wiggle-room to make it work.
How Likely Is It?: With Romijn? Not a chance. A Lawrence-starring version is much more likely if Fox dumps several trucks of money on her lawn, but Lawrence is probably rich enough that she'd balk at spending a full movie production playing the character, rather than her usual, less-arduous supporting role.
It's probably not going to happen, at least until the character gets inevitably recast once again. 3/10
