10. Evelyn Salt/Natasha Chenkov (Salt)
Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is a CIA agent who was held captive in a North Korean prison. She was returned to the United States in a prisoner exchange deal which saw another prisoner returned to his homeland. A couple of years later, on her wedding anniversary, Salt is approached in her CIA office by a Russian defector who claims that sleeper agents are going to destroy the United States. It is then claimed that an agent named 'KA-12' is going to assassinate the Russian president and it turns out that KA-12's real name is Evelyn Salt. It becomes evident that Salt was brought up in the Soviet Union and that her current life is a lie. She was essentially reprogrammed in what was a violation of her mind. The rest of the film sees her trying to stop the destruction of the USA while trying to find out the truth about herself and evade capture. She makes bombs from scraps, extracts the venom from a poisonous spider to use as a weapon and takes down teams of Secret Service soldiers, showing that she's an absolute force of nature. Ultimately, Salt saves America and frees herself from the clutches of those chasing her, whilst vowing revenge for what was done to her growing up.
