10 Female Superheroes Who Should Get Their Own Film

3. Jean Grey

Yes, Jean Grey plays a key role in the X-Men film franchise, but she always seems to be getting sidelined by the male mutants who all seem to have so much more going on -- or worse, relegated to the third corner of a silly love triangle between Wolverine and Cyclops. But does anyone even notice that she is by far one of the most powerful characters in the series? Does anyone even care?

Jean Grey is certainly treated badly by the film series, and it seems only fair that she should get a chance to redeem herself with a standalone movie. And what better time than now? The X-Men films are at a peak right now in terms of creativity and critical acclaim, and now that Hugh Jackman has hung up his mutton chops for good, there is a fairly large gap in the franchise where a new solo superhero film is just aching to step in.

But if she does get a film, please let it just completely avoid the idea of a love interest -- there's only so much of that done poorly one can take, and the early X-Men films hit more than their quota of cheese romantic scenes with Jean Grey.
