10 Female Superheroes Who Should Get Their Own Film

4. Squirrel Girl

Black Widow Scarlett Johansson
Marvel Comics

Please immediately throw all of your preconceived notions about Squirrel Girl being a terrible superhero in the trash where they belong. Because while her character/origin story/general presence is undeniably a little eccentric, she is actually pretty impressive as a hero. Let this serve as a reminder that she (and her squirrel compatriots) were single-handedly responsible for beating Doctor Doom, one of Iron Man's nemeses.

A film version of the exploits of Squirrel Girl would be a great opportunity to get away from some of the darker broodiness that has seeped into the superhero films over the past ten years or so, and go for something a little more light-hearted and quirky. Squirrel Girl is a particularly young superhero, only a teenager, so it would be a lot of fun to see her story told with spirit and good humor. It's easy to imagine this project being done with a Chloe Grace Moretz or Abigail Breslin in the lead role, as a sort of coming-of-age action film.
