10 Most Ferocious Beatdowns In Movie History

8. A Clockwork Orange

A movie about a sociopathic delinquent in a quasi-dystopian future is bound to contain more than its fair share of violence, and if there's one thing Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of A Clockwork Orange has in spades it's a bit of the old ultraviolence. A searing satire on morality, controlling behaviour and the role of the state, Kubrick's heavily stylised film is a true classic. One particularly brutal scene, in which the main character Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and his droogs lay into a tramp in an alleyway, beating him to death, was linked to the real life murder of a homeless man in the UK. The death prompted Kubrick to withdraw the film from distribution after death threats were made to his own family. Only after Kubrick's death after he completed Eyes Wide Shut were the British able to finally see the film officially for themselves (although many imported it on video and laserdisc).
