10 Film Characters Who Were Secretly The Villain All Along

9. Iron Man - Civil War

Civil War is a film that raises a whole lot of moral quandaries - largely about whether Iron Man's faction, or Captain America's faction, is in the right about superhuman registration.

But this isn't about that. No, this is about a slightly more worrying concept - namely, that Iron Man lets Spider-Man fight Cap's team in the famous airport scene. Now, the maths of the series does initially suggest Peter is thirteen at this point, but Kevin Fiege has explicitly stated that Parker is fifteen. Which is better, but also way, way too young to be fighting folks like Captain America and the Scarlet Witch.

Because, crucially, Petey is in a full-body costume, which means nobody fighting him could take it easy on him because they realised he was a kid. Aside from his voice, nothing would quite clue you in - and you'd have to presume most folk aren't listening to Spider-Man's light-hearted quips when they're trying to avoid getting a web to the face.

He's even actively called out on this by Rhodey, who expresses concern about how old the kid is. Iron Man then says he doesn't know, which is either an outright lie, or otherwise the most irresponsible thing ever.
