The Film: History of Violence When a quiet family man is faced with an armed robbery, he is forced to defend his livelihood and take action to prevent it. When he is thrust into the media as a hero, he begins to receive some unwanted attention from a mystery man who shows up in town, suggesting that he has a dark past and isn't the loving father and husband that he claims. The Character: Tom Stall Played by Viggo Mortensen, a man known for his tough guy roles, Tom Stall denies everything that the stranger accuses. Apparently his name is Joey Cusack and he has links with crime in his previous life, but the men who keep insisting only do so at their very unfortunate demise. As Tom's concern for his familys safety rises and he continues to surprise us with his incredibly sudden and violent outbursts, we too begin to doubt his story. After all, a man who breaks a nose like he's taking a walk must be hiding something. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwQJBP4hC2s
