10 Film Franchises That Are Officially In Jeopardy
4. Terminator
The Terminator series is in the doldrums after not one, but two failed reboot attempts, but they're going the right way about trying to save it.
After the poorly received Salvation and the downright reviled Genisys left the franchise in a similar state to Arnie after his molten metal bath at the end of T2, the rights to the brand are heading back to creator James Cameron.
If anyone can save Terminator, surely it's Cameron, but he has his work cut out after the last two movies reinforced the belief that the series should just call it a day.
True to form, Arnie will be back for another instalment, as will Linda Hamilton, and the series mastermind has recruited Deadpool helmer Tim Miller to direct the sequel. So far, so positive and the film will also serve as a follow-up to one of the greatest sequels ever, T2, and ignore the liquid-metal turds that came between.
Terminator is in safe hands for the first time since the early '90s, but it will take one hell of a sequel to dispel the belief that the franchise should have wound up years ago.
