Dinosaurs never get old, but the franchises they’re shoved into do. The Jurassic Park series is one that has truly ran its course.

Well, to be fair to the follow-ups, the original Jurassic Park is considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time. There is no point going over why it’s so excellent, as everyone and their granddad has seen it.

But it is worthwhile to defend its sequel, The Lost World, that Spielberg also directed. And while it is certainly not a perfect movie, it does contain that classic Spielberg touch, with great set pieces and some genuinely tense moments. Come on, who doesn’t love two T-Rexes?

Unfortunately though, this series has been going haywire since the release of Jurassic Park 3 back in 2001. With that movie easily holding the award for being the most dull of the series.

The reboot, Jurassic World, which was released to huge box office success in 2015, proved that the series still had legs financially, but was struggling innovate beyond the basic premise of dinosaurs getting loose in a park.

The latest entry, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, was the ultimate indicator that this franchise had completely ran out of new and interesting ideas.
