10 Film Franchises You Really Should Stop Watching After The 2nd Movie
6. The Godfather
Much like Jurassic Park, the original Godfather is considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time, and will inevitably be a hard act to follow. The movie revitalized Marlon Brando’s career and cemented Francis Ford Coppola as one of cinemas most revered directors.
In sharp contrast to the Jurassic Park series, the sequel is held up as being just as good, if not superior, to the original. This was furthered when it became the first sequel to ever win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
These two classic movies remain the gold standard for gangster narratives in cinema.
It’s a different story for The Godfather Part 3. Although Part 3 was not panned by critics, the response was far more lukewarm than its predecessors. Many pointed to the confused tone and stilted performances, especially that of Sofia Coppola, the director's daughter.
As a conclusion to The Godfather trilogy, it is a rather disappointing affair, but one suspects, it could have been far worse.
