10 Film Miscastings That Ruined Our Favorite Characters

1. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Douglas Quaid

No one can argue that Arnold Schwarzenegger has a distinctive appearance. It is exactly this quality that has earned him a second spot on this list. When Mario Kassar and Carolco Pictures bought the rights to Total Recall from Dino De Laurentis a lot changed from the source material. In the short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale by Philip K. Dick, the protagonist is named Quail and he is an everyman, average looking and an accountant type. The idea to make him a physically fit, muscular construction worker was an idea of Schwarzenegger's as he was excited for an opportunity to work with Paul Verhoeven after their collaboration on Robocop didn't pan out. The character will return to the screen in the upcoming Total Recall remake, played this time by Colin Farrell, who at least is closer in appearance to the character Dick presented. Schwarzenegger fans have nothing to worry about though, he stated recently he will be making a return to the Terminator franchise---a role he is singularly suited for. What other roles differed from their original presentations? Did the actor's have talent enough to make up for it or were your favorite stories forever ruined? Sound off in the comments below!
