10 Film Parodies Better Than The Original
8. Spy
Original Movie: Modern spy movies
This one may surprise a few but spy was a clever and funny take down of the spy movie genre as a whole. Directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy you really begin to understand how talented a comic pairing these two are when they’re not working on a Ghostbusters movie.
Melissa McCarthy starts out the film as the voice in Jude Laws ear, giving him technical support. Jude Law does a phenomenal impersonation of a smooth and charismatic James Bond type but also plays it in such a way where you know he’s just a little bit slow. Once law is murdered then McCarthy must leave the desk and go out into the field to avenge him.
The film then manages to squeeze every drop of comic potential from its basic premises, employing a great cast of characters to aid it in doing so. We have Melissa McCarthy thinking on her feet as she guides us through this fish out of water story.
The aforementioned smooth but stupid Jude Law who, Peter Serafinowicz plays the handsy Italian spy Aldo who through out the film parodies how creepy certain characters were around women in old spy movies and maybe the best part of the film Jason Statham playing a parody of Jason Statham characters.
If you have any familiarity with spy movies this one has something for you.
