10 Film Reboots And Remakes To Be Concerned About In 2014
7. Endless Love
Plot: Jade is a privileged girl, David is a charismatic boy. They wind up having a love affair as soon as they meet each other, but their love gets put to the test when Jade's parents want to keep them apart. Based on: The 1981 film which starred Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt. That film was based on the novel of the same name by Scott Spencer, who did not have nice things to say about that version. This upcoming film does not seem to bare any resemblance to the original novel, as it's not even credited on its IMDb page. I've torn this movie apart already with this article... and obviously, that's just based off the trailer. I normally don't react that way towards a movie trailer, but I could not help myself with this one. Endless Love could have just been your typical V-Day romantic drama, but something suggests that the camp factor will be fairly high. The over-the-top acting, the overly serious tone, the cheesy dialogue---it may not be worth your time at the theater, but it could be worth renting once it hits home video. Could this be bad in a fun way or just flat out terrible? Those are the only two options I see at this point. They have turned Scott Spencer's erotic thriller of a novel into a watered-down cliche-ridden Romeo & Juliet story. I will feel bad for the poor sucker who is forced to see Endless Love over Robocop, both of which come on the same Valentine's Day weekend.
