10 Film Reboots And Remakes To Be Concerned About In 2014
8. About Last Night
Plot: Per Wikipedia, "New loves for two couples as they journey from the bar to the bedroom and are eventually put to the test in the real world." Based on: The initial concept is based on David Mamet's play Sexual Perversity in Chicago which was adapted into the 1986 film About Last Night, starring Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Jim Belushi, and Elizabeth Perkins. It was also director Edward Zwick's directorial debut, who would later make films such as Glory, The Last Samurai, and Blood Diamond. That 1986 film was well-regarded when it first came out, but it has not reached classic status like other Brat Pack films from that era. The remake will feature an all-black cast that includes Kevin Hart, Regina Hall, Joy Bryant, and Michael Ealy. So, at least they're approaching the material from a different perspective. It looks like a fairly harmless film to be released on Valentine's Day, though I wonder if it will be as heavy on the sex as the original. The 1986 version featured quite a few sex scenes between Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. It would be a shame if they completely sanitized it. Could you imagine both Robocop and About Last Night, two films released in the relatively "clean" decade of the 1980s, getting remakes that are actually tamer?
