10 Film Sequels That Made Fans Rage Quit
5. Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf
While not exactly Joe Dante’s best work, The Howling was a fun werewolf movie with great monster effects. He had nothing to do with this sequel, where the brother of Karen from the original avenges her death, and chases after an evil werewolf queen who wants to conquer the world.
Christopher Lee shows up as a werewolf hunter, and famously walked up to Dante on the set of Gremlins 2 a few years later to personally apologise for appearing in the film. It’s hard to blame him, since Howling II is so shoddy and poorly put together it acts as an insult to the original. It seems doubtful those who made even it even saw the first film, and lead Reb Brown appears to think talking quietly and then loudly yelling makes for a compelling performance.
Bad movie fans might get something from it, but those loved the original detested it, and the series subsequently headed straight to video.
