10 Film Sequels That Made Fans Rage Quit

6. The Grudge 2

The Riddler Batman Forever
Ghost House Pictures

The American remake of The Grudge was a surprise smash back in 2004, so naturally a sequel had to be churned out. They managed to bring Sarah Michelle Gellar back for a cameo, before throwing her off a roof because she didn’t want to star in the whole thing.

The rest of the movie is a patchwork of jump scares and needlessly convoluted plotting, and it’s so badly paced it’s easy to nod off for twenty minutes without missing anything. The creepy ghost lady with a sore throat returns to haunt some boring teens, but her power to chill had already been picked worn out by the previous movie.

It made decent money despite the horrendous reviews, but the studio knew better than to push their luck. They churned out a straight to DVD sequel a few years later, where it sat dusty and unrented on video store shelves.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
