6. Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The first entry for James Cameron on the list picks up eleven years after the events of the first. John Connor, the future resistance leader, is your typical rebellious kid, living with foster parents due to Sarah being in a psychiatric hospital after the events of the original. Skynet sends a new advanced Terminator back through time to try and kill John while he's still a child, but the Resistance manages to reprogram a T-800 to send back through time to protect him from harm. The catch is, though, when John and the T-800 go to free Sarah, she freaks out due to it looking exactly like the one that tried to kill her eleven years ago. What follows is a high octane action movie with loads of explosions and huge guns. What also adds to this movie is John trying to teach the T-800 how to be more human, making us empathise with this machine. It gives us more glimpses into what the future war will be like and how we cannot change our destiny. Pretty deep stuff. It also introduced us to the infamous catchphrase, "Hasta la vista, baby".
