10 Film Subplots Infinitely Better Than The Main Story

6. The Black Panther - Captain America: Civil War

STAR WARS FINN
Marvel Studios

Despite being a Captain America movie, Civil War was bloated with as many Marvel heroes as possible to emphasize on the "war" aspect of the title. The entire Avengers' roster aside from Hulk and Thor show up, Ant-Man makes a big cameo, and two important Marvel heroes, Spider-Man and Black Panther, make their debut.

Black Panther's plot line follows the Wakandan prince on a hunt for revenge against Bucky for the murder of his father, King T'Chaka. As such, he teams up with Iron Man against Captain America and Bucky, and follow the trio to Siberia, where he learns that Bucky is innocent, and his father's true killer is Zemo. In an act of Mercy, he spares Zemo's life and sympathizes with him, before turning him in.

Black Panther commands every second he's on screen, teasing the world of Wakanda. His compelling plot is designed to be only a subplot to advertise his 2018 solo movie, which broke crazy box office records and became the first superhero film ever nominated for Best Picture, proving that this subplot works best as the main attraction.
