10 Critically Panned Films That Will Be Future Classics
3. Daredevil (Director's Cut)
Okay, calm down and read the brackets first before you get outraged. This is the director's cut, not the one that completely underwhelmed audiences in cinemas. The director's cut of Daredevil is a totally different film and proof that the movie did have some serious potential before it was neutered by the studio to achieve a PG-13 rating. Adding thirty minutes back in, the director's cut is a lot tighter, makes more sense and ultimately turns Daredevil into one of the better superhero films of the past decade. This version is a lot closer to the original spirit of the Daredevil character and is a significant improvement over the original. More time is devoted, for example, to Matt Murdoch's catholic upbringing and the struggles he faced with religion, as well as an entire sub-plot around a drug dealer played by Coolio that was completely cut from the version shown in theatres. Now if they could just go back in time and release this version instead there would be no harm done and the franchise probably wouldn't have ended at one film.
