Despite having Guillermo del Toro and David S. Goyer teaming up to produce this sci-fi horror, Antlers has mostly fell under the radar.

Based on the short story "The Quiet Boy" by co-writer Nick Antosca, Antlers follows events that terrorise a small town in Oregon. Keri Russell plays a teacher who discovers a student is harbouring some dark secrets. Partnering up with her brother (who happens to be the town's sheriff), they encounter a horrific creature.

The creature is only teased in the trailers, leading to speculation on what it could be. Theories point to the mythical Wendigo, nicknamed the 'Flesheater of the Forests'. Said to live in the Great Lakes, the creature is known for a love of human flesh. It would eat anyone who trespassed on its land. Occasionally a Wendigo would possess a human and transform them into another Wendigo who would then track down their loved ones to consume them.

Antlers has all the classic horror tropes and promises to be a thrilling experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, the already low key release will suffer from this delay, unless Searchlight Pictures can find the money for another promotional run. It may be worthwhile for the studio to partner up with a streaming platform instead of a traditional release.
