10 Films Hollywood Should Actually Remake

4. Panic Room (2002)

David Fincher is, undeniably, one of the greatest visionaries of modern cinema. His attention to detail, portrayal of fragile yet determined characters and overwhelmingly bleak narratives have thrilled and entertained fans for years.

That's not to say that every single film is perfect. Panic Room (2002) is a great noughties film that follows a single mum (played by Jodie Foster) and her diabetic, teenage daughter (played by a young Kristen Stewart) who move into a new apartment with a panic room (roll credits). This slowly evolves into a game of cat and mouse as men try to rob the apartment and the two women are forced to flee into said room, relying on their common sense and practical know-how to get out of the situation.

It is, in essence, just a home invasion movie. So why should it be remade? Well, after the release of Hush (2016), it's pretty evident that this branch of thriller/horror movie can be built upon and really evoke a visceral reaction from its audience: Hush is successful in that it plays on the deprivation of what we consider to be a vital sense, our hearing.

Give Mike Flanagan the baton and he could cultivate Panic Room into something truly horrifying...or, at the very least, more horrifying than Jared Leto with cornrows.
