10 Films Intended To Be R-Rated That Got Neutered To PG-13

In one of the strangest cases of a late-in-the-game rating change, Lionsgate mandated changes to the film even after it was released in theaters.

Released as an R-rated film, the David Koepp directed and Johnny Depp-starring piss-poor excuse for a comedy was a universal flop. Any number of factors lead to the film's failure, including but not limited to; its befuddling marketing campaign, its January release date, its abysmal reviews, or the fact that it was simply a horrendously made film.

But instead of considering any of those possibilities as factors in the film's failure, Lionsgate decided to chalk it all up to the film's rating. As a result, when the film was released on VOD mere weeks later, it had been edited down to a PG-13.

But it was far too little, far too late for this disasterpiece, as the PG-13 edit somehow made it even less comprehendible.
