10 Films That Creepily Predicted 2016’s Biggest Moments

3. Monsters (2010) - Donald Trump & The Mexican Wall

The as yet mythical Mexican Wall has been an integral part of Donald Trump’s campaign since the get-go. There was first talk of a ‘great, great wall’ when he announced his decision to run for president in 2015 and it turned out that wasn’t just big talk to grab the headlines.

He’s reaffirmed his intention to build a wall throughout his campaign and since his official election as the new POTUS, though it seems to have been downgraded from the ‘impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall’ Trump first envisioned to one that will include stretches of bog-standard fencing.

There is no telling whether Donald Trump is a fan of Star Wars: Rogue One director Gareth Edwards’ feature film debut Monsters but considering the similarities between the movie and Trump’s stance on Mexico, the President-elect could well be a fan.

In Edwards’ movie, a NASA deep space probe has crash-landed in Mexico and infested it with extraterrestrial alien creatures and in an effort to contain them the USA has quarantined the northern half of the country and erected a huge wall along the Mexico-United States border.

Swap the space aliens of the movie for illegal aliens of the Mexican variety that the President-elect believes are destroying America and Monsters is practically Trump’s wet dream on celluloid.
