10 Films That Predicted The Trump Presidency

5. Back To The Future Part II

Biff Tannen
Universal Pictures

If ever there was evidence that politicians should never try to inject their campaigns with popular culture, Ted Cruz' lame run at the presidency serves as a handbook for what not to do. Yet there he was, week after week, stealing lines from The American President, attempting lame Simpsons impression and referencing Back to the Future part II.

He wasn't wrong, however, that the screenwriters of part II modeled their post-apocalyptic vision of 1985, in which bully Biff Tannen bluffs and cheats his way to fame, riches and supermodels, on Donald Trump. Even actor Thomas Wilson's hair is intended to mock the Donald, ridiculously coiffed and tanned. Knowing what we know now, however, one yearns for a flux capacitor.
