10 Films That Prove We Should Fear Technology

5. The Fly

The Fly

Eccentric scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) is working on a revolutionary new technology: a set of telepods that will allow a person to instantaneously travel between two points. But in this Cronenberg classic, we quickly see that Brundle hasn€™t quite worked all of the bugs out of the system. When a common housefly gets trapped inside a pod with Brundle during a test of the teleporters, their DNA fuses together, causing Brundle to slowly mutate into a gigantic insect, a horrific creature he dubs €œBrundlefly.€ As Brundle's transformation nears its end, he grows increasingly violent, before meeting his end at the hands of reporter Veronica Quaife (Geena Davis). Given the risks, maybe we should just stick with airplanes for now.
