10 Films That Prove We Should Fear Technology

4. Alien

Space travel is considered by many to be the epitome of human achievement, a great endeavour that allows our species to slip the surly bonds of our home planet in search for answers in the vast openness of the universe. The only problem is, we don€™t know what may be waiting for us once we leave home. Ridley Scott€™s Alien presents us with a future where technology has allowed us to conquer space, with human colonies spread out over countless planets. In the film, the ill-fated crew of the Nostromo stumble upon an unknown species of alien, which soon decimates the entire crew save for Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver). While the alien creature itself garners most of the fear, the idea of lumbering through space, lightyears from home, on creaking derelict vessels being hunted by an unseen creature seems like an awful way to spend one€™s last days.
