10 Films That Really Didn't Deserve Razzie Nominations

Though they are often a bit undervalued in the modern landscape of pop culture, Tim Burton' original two Batman films are wonderful. Audiences and critics both showered the initial installment with praise, which led to Burton getting a bit more creative control for the sequel. Infamously, this resulted in a film that was a good bit stranger than its predecessor, which resulted in a decrease in toy sales and unhappy Happy Meal customers.

However, the sequel was still beloved by fans and even by critics. It was a stronger, more confident film than its predecessor that gave us Danny DeVito's iconic take on The Penguin. Which is exactly why it's so mystifying that DeVito was nominated for a Worst Supporting Actor Razzie.

His performance was certainly strange and a bit unhinged but that's kind of the whole point. He's a penguin man for crying out loud. He also had the immeasurable task of following up Nicholson's role as Joker from the previous film, which had already been deemed iconic by the time the sequel rolled around.

If anything, DeVito deserves more credit for taking on such an unforgiving role, knowing what he was going to be compared too. But he does so with aplomb and delivers a wonderfully villainous performance.
