10 Films That Should Never Be Remade

8. First Blood

After establishing himself as the legendary boxer Rocky Balboa, Sylvester Stallone went on to create the first of the Rambo franchise, First Blood, in 1982.

Centred around a Vietnam War veteran returning to an America that treats him as a dirty outsider, John Rambo is forced to run, hide and fight against the oppressive forces that seek to take away his rights as a human.

As an interesting analysis into the damaged psyche of a soldier, Rambo suffers from PTSD, and when abused by some police officers, Rambo reacts, if only in uncontrollable self-defence. Escaping into the woods, a manhunt ensues, with Rambo doing his utmost not to kill any of his pursuers.

Stallone has taken on many iconic films over the years, but arguably none with such a potent anti-war message. Although Rambo’s survival and combat skills make him an ideal soldier, he reaps no benefits from the time he serves.

If anything, he wields these skills as a curse.

This anti-war message is exactly why it should be left well enough alone; a remake today would simply be another fun/dumb action film.

Hopefully Rambo: Last Blood bombing with the critics and managing a marginal success at the box office will prevent any remakes or reboots. Hopefully.
