10 Films That Teased Great Sequels (That Never Happened)

4. 22 Jump Street

22 Jump Street is that rare beast: a comedy sequel that surpasses its original. While 21 Jump Street dipped its toe into meta commentary, its follow up fully submerged itself in self referential comments about the laziness of sequels and rebooting old franchises, crimes that it knowingly commits itself.

Arguably the finest moment of the film does not arrive until the closing credits which literally show 25 incredible sequels starring Schmidt and Jenko ranging from going undercover in a Ninja Academy to a Beauty School. This in itself is a comment on the laziness of Hollywood sequels but the irony of these teasers is that it only whets an audience's appetite for these increasingly ridiculous follow ups.

While a bizarre Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover looked like it was in the works for a while, there has been no recent comment about the likelihood of this. Whether the film was afraid it would not be able to live up to the incredible closing credits or interest had simply dried up, a sequel looks out of the question for the time being.
