3. Jaws: The Revenge (1987)

Steven Spielberg's Jaws is one of the greatest movies ever made, and thankfully its reputation has neither been diluted or sullied by three sequels of ever-diminishing quality. As well as being the final chapter in the franchise, Jaws: The Revenge is also the worst entry by quite some distance. Filming for the movie meant Michael Caine was unable to collect his Academy Award for Hannah and Her Sisters, but the actor didn't mind and said in an interview; 'I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific!' Running the franchise well and truly into the ground, the plot of the movie is utter nonsense; Ellen Brody loses her son to a great white shark on Amity Island and believes it is targeting her family, so she flees to the Bahamas. Naturally, the shark decides to follow her all the way there in order to finish the job once and for all. Besides such a ridiculous story, the movie offers no logic, tension or suspense, the performances are phoned in and the special effects are often hilariously unconvincing. Jaws: The Revenge marked a depressing end for a franchise that had been launched so spectacularly 12 years earlier.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
