10 Films That Want You To HATE Them
1. A Serbian Film (2010)
Where to begin with A Serbian Film? The mid-coital beheading? The penis-in-eyesocket execution? The protagonist being made to rape his son?
It's just so wrong on so many levels. This is an exploitation of the exploitation genre and while that itself is mind-bending, it's utterly revolting to witness.
Loosely speaking, the film follows an aging porn star who unintentionally ends up making a many-scened snuff film, but, beyond this, the film doesn't make a lick of sense and instead just descends into depravity.
It will be no surprise to learn that the film received no proper cinematic release, instead sneaking its way into a few film festivals around the world, much to the dismay of almost everyone involved. Many film boards have refused to rate the picture, and both hands are required to count the number of countries that it is still banned in today.
Attempts have been made to argue for the artistic credibility of A Serbian Film, but few who have sat through its 104 minutes would be inclined to agree. Depicting the absolute worst possible pornographic scenarios for nothing but its own titillation, the film is irredeemably grim.
If ever there was a film that was solely designed to bait audiences and produce the utmost revulsion, it was this.
