10 Films That Would Make Great TV Shows
6. Jack Reacher
The first Jack Reacher film, despite the fan backlash over the casting of Tom Cruise, was a surprisingly entertaining pulpy thrill ride with an outstanding car chase to boot. However, Reacher's most recent outing, subtitled Never Go Back, should have been seen as a clear warning. For anyone unlucky enough to have seen it, you have our sympathies.
Lee Child's never-ending series of novels would perfectly suit the television format. As a lone wanderer, each new series could explore a different novel - new town, new mystery, new supporting characters. Or, to fully embrace the character's lack of chronology, with Child instead seemingly writing whatever comes to his mind in whatever order of events, it could make for the perfect serial (even if serials are far less popular than they once were). Reacher would make a perfect police procedural/detective drama, even though he isn't a cop (but he is usually more effective than them).
It is believed there is going to be a third Reacher film with Cruise in the driver's seat, but once this franchise of films ends the future of Reacher seems suited to TV, in which it can be as violent and brave as it wants to be. Oh, and maybe if Reacher is recast for the TV series, how about we get an actor that is over six feet tall?
