10 Films Titles That Had Nothing To Do With The Plot

9. Cop Out

CopOut6ALP2-25-10 Kevin Smith's 2010 cop comedy fell a little short for both fans and regular movie goers, making the title that much more ironic. However, looking past that fact, one may find that the title had nothing really much to do with the actual movie. The plot featured Bruce Willis as a tough guy cop and Tracy Morgan as his off beat comic relief partner. Standard stuff for a buddy cop movie, though this movie barely falls into that category. Willis wants to fund his daughter's wedding, but he can't do that on a cop's salary. Instead he opts to sell a rare baseball card he has treasured for years. However, when it's stolen, both he and his partner set out to retrieve the card, and hilarity ensues. At least, that was what we were promised. Although the some of the jokes fell a bit flat and the plot felt thin, it was still a solid film. However, nothing in the above mentioned sounds anything like a cop out, no? Story goes that the original title was "A Couple of Dicks," going with the old time slang word "dick" for "detective." The studio didn't like that because of the innuendo that can possibly be associated, so they changed it to "A Couple of Cops." Perhaps a bit too pedestrian for the film market. When Kevin Smith heard about the change, he called the change a total cop out. Hence the seemingly out-of-nowhere title was born.
