10 Films Unfairly Rated R

3. The Entire Matrix Franchise

The MatrixRated R for sci-fi violence and brief language To this day I am convinced that the only reason the original Matrix film got handed an R rating was the byproduct of selecting Marilyn Manson€™s €œRock Is Dead€ to play over the ending credits. The song uses the F word in its chorus which gets repeated 3 or 4 times. Outside of that, I€™m lost. The franchise is filled with big budget extended sequences of nonstop Sci-fi action and slow motion bullet dodging but there€™s never any blood. There is a boatload of carnage but it's all presented with style, not buckets of blood. Additionally there€™s never any usage of harsh language or nudity either. It€™s implied that major characters have had sex before and that€™s it. These movies were already huge financial successes so who knows what would have come of them if they were actually rated properly.
