10 Films (Of Varying Quality) With Halloween Themes For The Spookiest Time Of Year

8. Idle Hands (1999)

Hands - Idle Hands Idle Hands was a terrible movie which turned out to be a massive box office flop in 1999, but it has developed a cult following and has become quite a beloved little effort. Based on the saying "idle hands are the Devil's play-things" or "idle hands do the Devil's work", the film mostly follows lazy stoner Anton Tobias, whose hand becomes possessed and goes on a killing spree, even after being cut off from his arm. First, on Halloween night, Anton's hand kills his own parents. Soon after that - and before he really even knows what is going on - it also kills his two best friends. Then, after killing two police officers, he decided to cut it off with a meat cleaver - but that doesn't stop it. From that point on, Anton's two best friends return as friendly zombies, a local metalhead and expert on all things Satanic tries to help him find out what's going on, a romantic relationship develops with his gorgeous neighbour and a travelling demon hunter helps to vanquish the being possessing the evil hand. With a cast containing Devon Sawa, Jessica Alba and Seth Green, this movie was always going to wind up being popular amongst teenagers - and while it has a nice little place in my heart, there's no denying it's actually pretty garbage (I can't deny the fun aspect, either).
