10 Films Where Dead Bodies Were Main Characters

7. Death Becomes Her (1992)

After Life

Bruce Willis doctoring some zombified women who are in love with him? I can believe that. But a living dead Meryl Streep and similarly-conditioned Goldie Hawn trying to permanently put each other down? I don’t think anyone expected that.

This 1992 film by Robert Zemeckis seems normal at the start, with two rivals vying for the attention of a successful doctor. Things take a slight turn when Meryl Streep’s character manages to acquire an immortality potion from an underground society and regain her youth.

Things take a sharp shift, however, when said potion revives Streep after she’s murdered by her adulteress husband. In anger, she takes out Hawn with a shotgun, only for her rival to rise again, revealing that she, too, had taken the potion.

Once they hash out their issues with brutal violence, they eventually come to accept their dead-but-still-living realities, relishing life even as their hearts cease to beat. A little bit of skincare and extensive plastic surgery keeps them looking alive, and it succeeds in maintaining the audience’s attention as well.
