10 Films Where Dead Bodies Were Main Characters

6. Swiss Army Man (2016)

Perhaps the strangest movie on this list, Swiss Army Man nonetheless boasts the acting chops of both Paul Dano and Harry Potter superstar, Daniel Radcliffe.

Put simply, the Boy Who Lived did not live in this movie, as he portrays a corpse which is befriended by a man stranded on a deserted island. Throughout the film, the dead body begins to manifest various strange and sometimes surreal abilities, including the ability to speak.

But, this being a dark comedy, the team behind Swiss Army Man focused a great deal of time on the propulsive flatulence of the dead body, which is used in various ways by his companion.

This is not a movie for the high-brow viewer, replete as it is with fart jokes on the scant border of recognizable sanity. But it was well-received by audiences and critics alike, showing that even as a dead body, Radcliffe can still pull off a good performance. And Dano, for his part, boasts his own skills as the film’s still-breathing primary protagonist.
