10 Films Which Accidentally Predicted The Future

1. Batman V Superman Poster - I Am Legend

I Am Legend is a fairly disappointing film which has only stood the test of time thanks to an interesting premise of one man and his dog trying to survive in a city full of nocturnal zombies and the star power of mid 00s Will Smith.

The film enjoyed a slight resurgence in 2013 when Zack Snyder confirmed that he would be directing a Man of Steel sequel titled 'Batman v Superman' with many pointing to I Am Legend's Easter Egg which seemingly predicted this. In the dytopian sci-fi thriller we see Will Smith exploring an abandoned Times Square where it is possible to see a Batman v Superman poster projected on one of the screens.

The blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail was added to the film by the director as a cheeky reference to an abandoned Batman v Superman screenplay written by Akiva Goldsman (co-writer of I Am Legend) who was hoping to follow up George Clooney's Batman & Robin with the clash of the two DC titans. However, the film was not given a green light after the failure and critical panning of Batman & Robin but the cheeky Easter Egg acted instead as a foreshadowing of the 2016 Zack Snyder entry to the DCEU nearly a decade before it was released.

An avid cinephile, love Trainspotting (the film, not the hobby), like watching bad films ironically (The Room, Cats) and hate my over-reliance on brackets (they’re handy for a quick aside though).
